Компиляция, охватывающая всю карьеру знаменитого музыканта, будет выпущена за 4 дня до выхода книги 'Born to Run' в издательстве Simon & Schuster. Пять композиций из 18, представленных на альбоме, ранее не выпускались. Спрингстин лично отобрал композиции для 'Chapter and Verse' так, чтобы они максимально подходили к темам и главам 'Born to Run'. Сборник открывается 2 треками от The Castiles, группы, в которой Спрингстин пел и играл на гитаре еще тинейджером, и заканчивается заглавной песней с альбома 2012-го года 'Wrecking Ball'.
