Dream Theater - прогрессив-метал-группа из США, основанная в 1985 году тремя студентами музыкального колледжа Беркли. Музыканты стали основоположниками жанра "прогрессивный метал", первые представили которого вдохновились альбомом Metallica "Master of Puppets", в том числе и сами Dream Theater. Для такой музыки характерны сложные инструментальные партии и высокое исполнительское мастерство. Dream Theater используют множество уникальных приёмов в процессе написания песен, "вшивают" в них маленькие особенности, не сразу заметные простому слушателю. На 2021 год группа выпустила 15 студийных альбомов.
