Описание:

Значительная часть гравюр авторизована, чаще всего встречается имя Адольфа Паннемакера, художника бельгийского происхождения, известного мастера репродукционной гравюры, работавшего в технике торцевой ксилографии. В конце XIX в. мировой столицей ксилографии был Париж. В паре с А. Паннемакером часто встречается фамилия X. Эстакье. Кроме них, над этим собранием раскрашенных акварелью гравюр трудились художники Е. Дюверже, А. Мерсье, Клерман, Дегру и др. Персонажи заимствованы из самых разных источников. Здесь и фрески Пинтуриккио, и миниатюры из старых манускриптов, хроник, календарей, и даже витражи. Художники нередко вычленяли нужных по костюму персонажей из общих групп и изображали в той же позе, что на картине. Гравюры были изданы в книгах "Костюмы Средних веков по манускриптам, живописи и скульптуре (современников)", Ван Беверен, Брюссель, 1847 г., и "Избранные исторические костюмы, составленные из наиболее достоверных источников", Генри Л. Хинтон, 1868 г.
