Описание:

Академик Сергей Федорович Платонов (1860—1933) в 1928 году осмеливался называть себя «великорусским патриотом». Книга «Борис Годунов» (1921) стала одним из элементов идейной программы Платонова, высказанной им также в работах «Иван Грозный» (1923) и «Петр Великий: личность и деятельность» (1926). С.Ф. Платонов бросил вызов официальной исторической доктрине советской власти — пролетарскому интернационализму, воздавая хвалу традиционной национальной государственности. Историк-эмигрант П.Б. Струве в рецензии на книгу «Борис Годунов» отмечал: «Роковая моральная аналогия мерзостей «смутного времени» с мерзостями «великой революции» неотразимо встает перед умом читателя... и мы не можем отделаться от мысли, что эта аналогия присутствовала и в его уме». С.Ф. Платонов попытался дать опирающийся на источники очерк эпохи Годунова и личности самого правителя; преодолеть «грубую и невежественную» традицию обвинения этого монарха во всех мыслимых грехах вопреки фактам. .
