Репринт с издания. Москва, 1914. Граф Людовик-Виктор-Леон де Рошешуар (1788—1858) Сын полковника французской армии. и приближенной королевы Марии-Антуанетты. В 1804 году уехал в Россию. В России Рошешуар состоял при своём дяде герцоге де Ришельё, губернатора Одессы. Он усыновил Рошешуара. С 1805 года Рошешуар состоял в Кавказских войсках и был в походах против горцев в Черкессии и Чечне, затем воевал с турками. При войне с Наполеоном Рошешуар воевал в корпусе генерала Тормасова. (Березина). Был произведён в подполковники и зачислен в свиту его величества по квартирмейстерской части (будущий Генеральный штаб). В 1814 г. он оказался с войсками во Франции. Здесь, оставаясь на русской службе, перешёл к Бурбонам. Участвовал в многих сражениях и в штурме Парижа. Оставил русскую службу (при отставке получил чин генерал-майора) Был назначен мэром Парижа и произведён в бригадные генералы. Во время Ста дней находился при Людовике XVIII и сопровождал его в Гент. При второй реставрации Рошешуар был назначен начальником штаба военного министра и с 1815 года военным губернатором Парижа. С 1821 года был королевским камергером и командором ордена Почётного легиона. После себя Рошешуар оставил мемуары «Воспоминания о революции и империи», (1889 Париж) Эти мемуары опубликованы в данной книге.
