Жанр тюремной лирики не нов. Тема физических и душевных страданий волновала людей многие столетия тому назад ничуть не меньше, нежели теперь. К этой теме в той или иной степени обращались лучшие поэты - от Пушкина и Лермонтова до Бальмонта и Есенина, но в силу ряда причин именно в наши дни "русский шансон" переживает второе рождение. "Я давно стоял бы на коленях, просто мама в детстве запретила…" Эта строка как нельзя лучше передает суть стихов и песен о неволе, собранных в книге. В них выражены чувства сильных людей, их стремление к свободе, желание поддержать и утешить товарища. Вынужденно обживаясь в тюрьмах и лагерях, каторжане творят собственную культуру. И чем больше оков, тем свободнее их песни. Их нельзя запретить или стереть из памяти - они вырываются на волю к своим многочисленным поклонникам. В сборнике представлено творчество лучших авторов жанра, в том числе и тех, чьи имена стерлись из людской памяти, а поэзия стала неотъемлемой частью отечественного фольклора. Автор-составитель И.
